DEPAS ("Deutscher Geräte-Pool für amphibische Seismologie" / "German instrument pool for amphibian seismology") is a pool of broadband onshore and offshore seismological stations. The pool actually contains 100 onshore stations which are operated by the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam (GFZ) as well as 80 ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) and 5 ocean-bottom hydrophones (OBH) managed by the Alfred-Wegener-Institut Bremerhaven (AWI).
Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) was inaugurated as one of the independent administrative institutions upon re-organized from its former organization, Japan Marine Science and Technology Center. JAMSTEC has the main objective to contribute to the advancement of academic research in addition to the improvement of marine science and technology by proceeding the fundamental research and development on marine, and the cooperative activities on the academic research related to the Ocean for the benefit of the peace and human welfare.
The UTIG Marine Seismic Data Center is an NSF-sponsored project to organize seismic reflection/refraction data into a modern relational database management system accessible through the Internet. The system is designed principally for academic scientific use. Users include scientists, research staff and students from around the world that have high bandwidth Internet access. The web site provides access to metadata, SEG-Y files, navigation files, seismic profile images, processing histories and more.
The Marine Geoscience Data System (MGDS) provides access to the NSF-funded Ridge 2000 Data Portal and MARGINS Data Portal, as well as the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Data Portal, and the Seismic Reflection Field Data Portal. These projects are developed and maintained as a single integrated data system, providing free public access to a wide variety of marine geoscience data collected throughout the global ocean.
The Ocean Bottom Instrumentation Consortium aims to provide the academic and commercial communities with access to multi-sensor, versatile seabed instruments to enable sub-surface geophysical imaging at high vertical and lateral resolution.
